ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — The state and federal governments have fixed a communications issue that was prohibiting some military veterans from using New York’s Excelsior Pass app.

As News10NBC had previously reported, the issue affected people who got vaccinated at Veterans’ Affairs facilities. Their records weren’t being recognized by the state’s system. Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced federal and state agencies are now sharing that data, clearing up an issue that was affecting some 117,000 veterans.

Proof of vaccination through the Excelsior Pass is becoming more common as many businesses and events are adding vaccination requirements for admission.
