Excelsior Pass Scanner app now compatible with SMART Health Cards issued out-of-state

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York State’s Excelsior Pass Scanner app has been updated to be compatible with SMART Health Cards from trusted issuers outside of the state.

The scanner app can be downloaded for free by businesses and venues that wish to check customers’ vaccination statuses.

The update should make it a little easier for people who got their COVID-19 vaccine out of state, but who wish to attend an event at a venue in New York that requires guests to provide proof of vaccination.

Locally, the Blue Cross Arena is requiring guests 12 and older to show proof of vaccination.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Blue Cross Arena, also requires guests 12 and older to show proof of vaccination at its other New York State venues, Highmark Stadium and KeyBank Center in Buffalo.
