Fairport among 8 teams in NY Little League Championship

PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — Fairport is among eight teams that have qualified to compete in the New York State Little League Championship Tournament to be held in Penfield this week.
Each of the teams won district tournaments and sectionals to qualify.
After playing a round-robin tournament in Penfield, the NY championship team moves on to Bristol, Connecticut for the Little League Regionals.
A win there earns a ticket to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania as the team representing the Mid-Atlantic section of the U.S.
The following teams will face off in Penfield this week;
- Fairport Little League
- Colonie Little League
- East Meadow Little League
- Merrick Bellmore Little League
- Mid Island Little League
- Rotterdam Carman Little League
- Rye Little League
- Vestal Little League
Opening ceremonies for this week’s tourney in Penfield are at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27th. Games at the Penfield Little League Complex – located at 3100 Atlantic Avenue – begin immediately Tuesday morning. Play continues through the New York State Little League Championship game on Sunday, August first.
