HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Supporters gathered to offer help and count up victories for a Greece boy whose challenges date from when he was born. They came together Saturday for a fundraiser for little Jett.
Jett suffered from a lack of oxygen when he was born and spent about a week on full life support battling kidney failure.
He’s now two years old and defying doctors everyday, according to his mother Megan Culkin.
"The doctors didn’t have high expectations for Jett, but we as his parents did. Quality of life is definitely an opinion and their opinion of quality of life and ours is completely different. We kept going and doing whatever we could for him, and look at him now. He’s thriving. And I think everyone should just fight for what they believe instead of other people pushing their beliefs on them," Culkin said.
Jett’s parents were told he would never breathe, smile, laugh or eat on his own. And despite coming back from all that, he still has a long way to go.
There is a gofundme account set up to raise money for Jett. You can read more about that here.
