ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC has a new video to show you of the only local man charged in the assault on the U.S. Capitol last January 6th.
The Department of Justice pinpoints who they believe is Dominic Pezzola and the video shows him in the middle of it.
The video posted by the DOJ highlights who they say is Pezzola and they follow the man in the dark hat, sunglasses, and dark jacket to the point where they believe he stole a police riot shield. And the man the feds say is Pezzola acknowledges that in this cell phone video.
Man: You just stole a riot shield?
Pezzola: Yeah.
Man: Wow.
"I think he is facing one of the highest tier sets of charges. He’s charged with conspiracy. He’s charged with being among the front line members of the mob," said Scott MacFarlane, a reporter at NBC Washington. "Dominic Pezzola is a high profile defendant."
The video released in the Pezzola case follows the man in the dark jack with the riot shield up the stairs of the scaffold around the Capitol. In the video from the top of the stairs, you can hear the man in the dark jack and shield yell to the police that they better be scared.
"You better be (expletive) scared!"
Sometime after that, the feds say Pezzola used a police riot shield to bust through a Capitol window.
Pezzola is trying to get out of jail. In court filings, he and his lawyer argued it’s unsanitary and it’s impossible for Pezzola to help in his defense.
There was supposed to be a hearing on Friday. That was canceled and nothing was rescheduled with the court.
