ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Today the Rochester Airport reached 90 degrees with the heat Index, at times, pushing into the mid-90s. High pressure anchored across the eastern third of the country continues to circulate steamy air into the northeast. This high humidity has produced a few pop-up, isolated thundershowers. But any rain today was very “hit and miss” in terms of the coverage. Looking ahead, it appears we will see another 36 to 48 hours of tropical weather for Western New York.
Tonight any isolated thundershowers come to an end. Otherwise, you can expect hazy skies and very muggy conditions with a low temperature near 72 degrees. Sunday there is a heat advisory posted for most of Western New York from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The temperature should reach the low 90s and the heat index (combination of temperature and humidity) will feel like the upper 90s for the afternoon. The balance of the day will feature mostly sunny skies and just a small chance of an isolated thundershower located mainly in the Finger Lakes for the afternoon.
Monday should bring a little less heat, but still lots of humidity. There will be a much higher chance of passing showers and thunderstorms. Still the chance of a few showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday – at least for the morning – then partly sunshine by the afternoon. The temperature will reach the middle 80s. And the humidity will begin to fall with the temperature near 80 degrees.
It will be much more comfortable for the remainder of the week with lower humidity and more comfortable temperatures.
