ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – It is a cool and comfortable start to our Saturday, and these conditions will continue through today.
High temperatures this afternoon will reach the mid 70s under abundant sunshine as high pressure to our northwest keeps us clear. The clear and comfortable conditions continue into Sunday as highs reach the upper 70s, and the sunshine continues.
UV indices this weekend will be near eight, which means the burn time is less than half an hour, so make sure you grab the sunscreen if you have any outdoor plans this weekend. Besides that, outdoor plans will be good to go this weekend!
We will warm up and turn a bit humid on Monday as a warm front lifts to our north and a cold front approaches for Tuesday. Temperatures on Monday will return to the upper 80s with dew points back in the low and mid 60s. Not oppressive, but definitely noticeable on Monday.
Another thing we have noticed lately, and generally over the past few months, has been our lack of rain. A cold front will move through on Tuesday with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder, but widespread rain is not expected. Some areas will see much-needed rain, but most areas will see a little rain that won’t put much of a dent in our deficit.
After this front passes through on Tuesday, besides a passing light shower Wednesday, not much more rain is expected through the remainder of this week and into next weekend. The dry weather likely continues over the next 10 days with limited chances for rain. This means we will also increase our chances for temperatures to turn warmer as well.
The old saying is "When you’re dry, you fry," and it looks like next weekend our high temperatures begin to warm up and reach the mid and upper 80s for a consistent amount of time into the following week.
