ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Wednesday felt like summer! Temperatures reached into the upper 70s before a round of afternoon showers and storms rolled through.

With the main cold front and area of low pressure to our west, we’ll keep some showers, even some thunder in the forecast overnight. Temperatures will remain quite mild tonight, only falling into the upper 50s in most spots. Some fog is possible near Lake Ontario, with the mild and moist air in place over the cool waters of the lake. Thursday starts off very mild, at least for a few hours. We should make it into the mid and upper 60s before a cold front swings through. This will bring another round of morning showers, followed by afternoon sun. The best chance of seeing a thunderstorm will be well east into the Finger Lakes and central NY, as the cold front moves through later in the day and can tap into more instability.

Friday will be mainly dry with some sun, but both Thursday and Friday will also feature a busy wind out of the west, with some gusts of 30-35 mph.

Easter weekend still isn’t looking terrible, but we’ll lose the mild air. Saturday will top out near 50 with a good deal of clouds and scattered rain showers. Sunday should be the drier weekend day, but also cooler, with highs in the 40s and a few wet snow showers or graupel.

We’re still eyeing a cooler pattern for at least the first half of next week, with some rain or wet snow showers possible starting late Monday, and ending early Wednesday. At this point, we’re hoping for a milder end to next week.
