ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A high-pressure system will continue to spread across the Great Lakes for the remainder of the weekend. This is a very good scenario for near-perfect summer weather to finish the weekend. The key ingredients of this weather system is very low humidity and comfortable temperatures. However, a warm front is set to cross the area on Monday. As a result, the heat and humidity will build for the start of the week.

Tonight will be beautiful with clear skies. It will turn rather cool for this time of the year as the temperature falls quickly into the 60s and eventually close to 50 degrees for the overnight low temperature. It is interesting to note, that the record low after midnight at the Rochester Airport is 48 degrees set back in 1997. We may come close, but no record is expected. In addition, it will be much cooler south of Routes 5 and 20 where the mercury may fall into the lower 40s!

The temperature will rebound very quickly for Sunday morning. Look for bright sunshine with the temperature reaching near 80 degrees by the afternoon. Once again there will be very low humidity throughout the day. Monday the summer heat will return with more sunshine and the high temperature closer to 90 degrees.

It has been very dry over the last couple of weeks and the US Drought monitor continues to show “abnormally dry” conditions for all of Western News York. Rainfall will likely be limited during this upcoming week, but the chance of showers and thundershowers will be on the increase for Monday night and Tuesday.
