ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – It’s a cool, comfy, and sunny start to our Saturday and this weather will continue for today.
Sun will fill the skies today, and temperatures will remain on the comfortable side with highs around 80 degrees. Dew points will remain low this afternoon but begin to slowly rise late tonight.
Clear skies are expected tonight, and high pressure continues to dominate our weather for tomorrow with more sunshine expected. Sunday will feature sunny skies again, but it will be a touch more humid with dew points around 60. We will also be on the milder side of things as high temperatures work their way into the mid and upper 80s.
The heat continues to ramp up for Monday as highs reach 90 degrees, and dew points climb into the low 60s. Heat indices Monday afternoon may reach the low 90s, but nothing oppressive is expected. Sunny skies are also expected Monday, but an isolated thunderstorm may pop late as a cold front approaches form the northwest.
We will get a break from the humidity and heat on Tuesday as the cold front rolls through with an isolated storm, but it will build back quickly for Wednesday. The heat will continue to build for next week and stick around through next weekend.
No severe weather is expected Tuesday, but on Thursday another cold front will swing through which looks stronger. This will also have a bit more moisture ahead of it, which means we have our eyes on the possibility of strong storms Thursday afternoon.
No alert out at this time, as we are monitoring for trends, but a stronger cold front will swing through late Thursday with a better chance for storms and more thunderstorm energy when compared to Tuesday’s front. Definitely something to watch, but Thursday will also feature highs in the low 90s with dew points near 70 which means the heat index could reach the upper 90s and near 100 during the afternoon.
Stick with the First Alert Weather Team as we keep you updated on the severe weather potential, as well as a look at how hot it could feel Thursday.
