First Alert Weather: Bills Mafia Forecast

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) — This Sunday, the Buffalo Bills will welcome the Atlanta Falcons to Orchard Park in a must win battle for a playoff spot and with the division still on the line. With it being early January and in Buffalo, we all know how the weather can play a role in the outcome and the play calling in the game.

Weather will be a factor this Sunday, but the brunt of it looks to occur for the fans tailgating outside the stadium early Sunday morning.

After a mild Saturday, cold air will filter in and change rain showers over the snow showers late Saturday evening from Buffalo over to our region here locally. Snow will likely fall from after midnight and into late Sunday morning, this will create a few slick spots for fans heading out to the game early as light snow accumulations will be possible.

There remains a bit of uncertainty as ticks with storm track Sunday could also bring sleet and freezing rain into the picture. For the the fans headed out the New Era Field Sunday morning, heads up as slick conditions on the roadways will be possible early. Towards kickoff, temperatures will continue to tumble as they will be in the low 30s then into the 20s through the game. It will also be blustery which means that wind chills will be a factor and they will drop into the teens by halftime and remain there through the rest of the game.

A snow shower or two will be possible during the game, but the bulk of the action occurs during the morning hours with the story switching from snow early to bitter chills in the afternoon and evening. Updates to this will continue over the next couple of days.
