First Alert Weather: Brighter, milder Thursday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — To say the clouds have been slow to clear is an understatement. Most of Wednesday remained overcast, but we will see drier air working in tonight with a partly cloudy sky at times.

This trend will continue into Thursday, with a partly cloudy sky. So, we should finally see some blue return to the sky, at least for a day! An upper-level low moving into Michigan will increase our clouds again for Friday, but any rain should stay out of WNY. Thanks to some of that sun, highs on Thursday should make it back into the lower to mid-70s, with low 70s likely again on Friday.

The weekend isn’t looking all that bad, but we will see a few showers return on Saturday under a mostly cloudy sky. It’ll be far from a washout, but you will have to plan any outdoor activities around a little wet weather. Sunday should see some clearing, with afternoon sun and temperatures both days in the lower 70s.

Summer’s return: The theme for next week will be summer-like air. Highs will be well above average almost every day next week, with highs in the mid and upper 70s through Friday. A weak cold front trying to sneak through may drop us back for a day or two, but overall we’ll remain a good 10-15 degrees warmer than average, which now stands at 65 for early October. A few showers are possible with the front, but overall, expect a drier, warmer and sunnier week next week.
