First Alert Weather: Chance of rain for just about every day this week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The atmospheric computer models are showing the News10NBC meteorologists a very active weather pattern for the last week of October.

A series of storms will be moving across the country and, in rapid succession, will produce a high probability of rain on just about each and every day this week. However, if you plan accordingly, there will be a few periods of decent weather. The first decent time frame should be Sunday morning.

This evening, the sprinkles and hit-and-miss light showers will end with partial clearing expected later tonight. It will turn chilly with the temperature falling through the 40s into the upper 30s. Looks like a pretty good start to your Sunday with partial sunshine for the morning, but clouds will increase for the afternoon. If you are heading out in search of your favorite pumpkin tomorrow, you can expect dry for most of the day. However, by late afternoon a few rain showers will be developing south of Rochester. The high temperature will be in the mid-50s. Sunday night occasional rain will overspread all of Western New York with even the chance of a downpour after midnight. The temperature will drop to near 45 degrees.

Unfortunately, there is a rather high probability of rain for Monday, Tuesday and even into Wednesday morning. A low-pressure system will move from west to east just south of Rochester during this time period. As a result, the rain will be off and on through the middle of the week before tapering off Wednesday morning. Temperatures during the day will struggle to get into the low to mid-50s. Dry weather should return by Thursday, but it will not last long. The next storm will approach Rochester from the Tennessee Valley and will very likely bring another round of rain into Friday and Saturday.

As of today, the Halloween outlook is reasonably good! News10NBC’s Glenn Johnson says we need to consider that Sunday is still seven days away, and there will be some adjustments made to the forecast between now and next weekend. Right now, we are cautiously optimistic for dry weather for the little ghosts and goblins.
