ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – High pressure stretching from the eastern great lakes to the eastern seaboard continues to bring mainly clear skies and warm temperatures. Today’s temperature reached 88 degrees, but with lower humidity, it was a comfortable heat for Western News York. This high-pressure system will move east of us heading into Sunday, which will bring an increasing amount of heat and humidity. This will likely bring our fourth day this season of 90-degree weather for Rochester.
Tonight we will continue with mainly clear skies and comfortable temperatures. The mercury will slowly fall into the 70s and eventually drop into the upper 60s. It will be a beautiful evening for the end of the Rochester International Jazz Festival. Sunday look for partial sunshine for most of the morning then the chance of a few showers and maybe a couple of thunderstorms beginning at midday and continuing off and on through the afternoon. At this point, any storms should not be severe so the News 10NBC First Alert threat tracker will remain at the green status for the day. It will feel tropical with plenty of humidity and a high temperature near 91 degrees. Passing showers and thundershowers will continue from time to time into Sunday night with the low temperature near 63 degrees.
A cold front will have passed the area for Monday with a cooler, refreshing breeze returning to Western New York. Expect a much more comfortable day with the high temperature in the lower 70s. In addition, the day will bring partial sunshine and just the small chance of a spotty shower. Tuesday will stay comfortable with lower humidity, more sunshine and high temperatures in the middle 70s.
