ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — Pet owners beware: Muddy paws are back in the forecast with the arrival of rain tonight.

Rain showers move in before midnight and will tend to pick up in coverage and intensity overnight. Thursday morning starts off quite wet, with rain around and some pockets of moderate rainfall. While the steadiest rain will tend to taper into the afternoon, we’ll still have some wet weather around. Rainfall amounts will likely range from about 0.25" to 0.75" through Thursday evening. This isn’t enough to produce flooding concerns, but it will leave you with puddles and muddy spots in many yards. The unsettled weather will continue right into the weekend, but more in the form of "off and on" showers.

We will also lose the milder spring air we’ve had around the last few days. Highs will drop into the lower 50s Thursday and Friday, then continue their descent into the 40s both Saturday and Sunday. But, we’ll climb again as quickly as we fall. We have 60s and 70s returning to the area for the majority of next week, including the Red Wings home opener on Tuesday.
