ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The humidity is increasing across the region on Thursday with a slow-moving front approaching from the west.

As that front gets closer on Thursday afternoon, some showers and thunderstorms will develop. This activity will be hit-or-miss with some folks getting downpours and others not that much rain.

The atmosphere isn’t primed for widespread severe weather but in any storms lightning, gusts of winds, and very heavy rainfall will be possible with local flooding. So keep an eye on the sky as you are out and about and the umbrella ready to go.

There will be similar conditions on Thursday night into Friday, which will bring occasional showers and thundery downpours. Hopefully, we get some beneficial rain but not too much of a good thing.

Hot and humid weather will continue through the weekend with relief arriving Tuesday of next week. Stay tuned to News10NBC for the latest on developing storms and the timing of any rain for your Friday and weekend plans.
