First Alert Weather: Some thunder tonight, then a nice weekend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We have a few more hours of sticky, humid air before a cold front comes sweeping through, bringing a fresh change to WNY for the weekend.

Before then though, we’ll see evening storms in the Southern Tier move east, with another wave of showers and some thunder closer to midnight or just thereafter for Rochester. This will be associated with the cold front.

Most of this should be gone by Saturday morning, but a few showers may linger into the Finger Lakes with some clouds elsewhere. We’ll very quickly clear the clouds, leading to a beautiful blue sky for the rest of Saturday. Temperatures start off in the mid-60s and we’ll make it into the mid-70s under a cooler and drier northwesterly wind. Saturday night will be crisp compared to where we’ve been! Temperatures will drop into the mid-50s under a mainly clear sky.

Sunday also looks quite nice with sun and some high clouds, dry weather and comfortable air.

Next week starts off dry and comfortable with temperatures in the 50s Monday morning, and near 80 by afternoon. But, we’ll slowly ramp up the heat and humidity through the week. Highs will make their way into the lower to mid-80s Tuesday and Wednesday, then mid to upper 80s by the end of the week and the start of next weekend.

With dew points climbing back into the 60s and 70s, we’ll see a better chance for a few pop-up afternoon showers or storms mid to late week. Far from a washout, but our break from the humidity this weekend will be short-lived.
