First Alert Weather: The heat sticks around this week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — What’s left of Henri will continue to slowly pull away, taking the big moisture with it. This means a brief break from the big humidity on Tuesday.

Until then, it’ll be another muggy night with any leftover showers ending, leaving us with a partly cloudy sky. Tuesday should see plenty of sun, and while still muggy, dew points will be in the 60s instead of the 70s. That means the air won’t be quite as sticky as in recent days. Highs on Tuesday will top out in the mid to upper 80s for most.

Wednesday will see a return of the more humid air, with air temperatures flirting with 90. With the increased heat & humidity, we may see an isolated thundershower pop Wednesday afternoon. A cold front will drop south on Thursday, bringing us a much better chance of showers and some storms, along with another very humid day.

A break: Friday will bring a brief break from the heat & humidity. Dew points drop into the 50s and 60s, with drier air nosing south from Canada. Highs on Friday likely won’t make it out of the 70s! A few showers may pop south of the Thruway on Friday afternoon.

The weekend: Humidity, along with rain and storm chances will return again this weekend. Temperatures will pop back into the mid-80s, and while neither day will be a washout, it does look like we’ll be working our outdoor plans around some rain and perhaps thunder. We’ll keep you updated on the timing of any weekend rain right here online and on-air.
