ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The first all-civilian space flight is taking off Wednesday and a local passenger will be on board!

Fairport native Dr. Sian Proctor has been training for this mission for months.

She’s an entrepreneur, geoscientist, and educator who graduated from Fairport High School.

The launch window for the SpaceX Inspiration-4 mission opens Wednesday night at 8:02 p.m. They’re leaving from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The space flight will travel to orbit and return to earth about three days later off the Florida coast.

Dr. Proctor will join billionaire Jared Isaacman, a nurse, and a data engineer on the private SpaceX flight.
