Former Aquinas football standout taken in USFL draft
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester native and former Aquinas football Jarron Jones has been selected by the Tampa Bay Bandits in the first round of the USFL draft.
An All-Greater Rochester Team member in 2011, Jones was the seventh overall pick by the organization.
After graduating from Aquinas, he went on to play at Notre Dame and took home a Defensive Lineman of the Week honor in October of 2014. The former Class A. Champion spent some time with the Bills in training camp of 2019 before eventually being released.
A summer later Jones was again released after a stint with the Steelers. That October, Jones was suspended from the NFL for 10 games after pleading guilty to assault of a woman.
