Friday morning snow and blowing snow

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A burst of snow is moving through the region right now bringing an inch or so for most with conditions rapidly improving after 9am.

In the short term slick roads are the main issue. Slushy snow from last night is freezing up underneath the new snow falling now. That combination will make for difficult driving until the plows and salters get everything cleared off the roads. Take it slow and easy early this morning.

Once the steady snow ends around 9AM a windy and cold day ahead is expected with sun and clouds and just a few flurries and local lake flakes this afternoon. Yellow Alert will be over by midday.

The other issue has been local flooding along some streams and creeks. Thankfully only minor issues have been reported and not anticipating any major flood concerns through the day ahead.

Quick look ahead to the weekend shows a strong front arriving tomorrow morning with a possible snow squall and then local lake snow and bitter cold and subzero wind chills through the day tomorrow. A couple inches of windblown snow possible on Saturday. Much nicer weather Sunday as temps climb towards 40 with some sunshine.

More active weather ahead for next week as well so stay tuned for updates on the 10Day forecast on News10NBC through the weekend.
