Geneva Police warn of increase in vehicle thefts

GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Geneva Police Department Friday warned residents that it’s received a higher-than-normal number of reports of stolen vehicles and larcenies from vehicles lately.

It’s reminding residents to take the following steps to protect themselves and their property:

  • Do not leave keys in your vehicles.
  • Close and lock all doors and windows when you park.
  • If possible, park in well-lit areas.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially if they’re visible from the outside of your vehicle.
  • If your vehicle has an alarm system, use it.

It also encouraged residents to report suspicious activity to the Geneva Police Department.
