Good Question: Is that movie theater going to open?

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s a fun part of the holiday season each year. Families head out to the movie theater to catch the next big new release.

Theaters around town are open and have been, but not all of them.

That’s why Marc asked News10NBC’s Brennan Somers: It seems like mostly everything is opened back up. However, the Regal Theater on East Ridge Rd isn’t open yet. They have the message saying ‘temporarily closed’. I was just curious as to if it was permanently closed, or if they had plans to open back up someday (soon).

Let’s talk about the Regal in the Culver Ridge Plaza. It’s the only theater in that part of town.

The Good Question team went out to see if there are any messages posted. We found fliers on the door saying Regals are closed because of the pandemic. But we know theaters, most anyway, are back. The signs haven’t been updated in a while.

Somers has been emailing and calling Regal corporate to get an update but there’s been no response.

On the company’s website, there’s a list of all the current theaters in NY. You can find Regal Greece Ridge, Henrietta, and the theater at Eastview all listed.

There’s no listing for Culver Ridge.

Somers also reached out to the management group that runs the plaza. LLD Enterprises says "Unfortunately we don’t have any first-hand insight from Regal."

Is it ever going to reopen? Perhaps, but it doesn’t look promising at this point, or at least not anytime soon.
