Good Question: When does early voting start in New York?

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — This Good Question has to do with early voting.

Many of you have been asking: When does early voting start in New York State?

Nearly half of all states will start early voting by this weekend and more are sending ballots through the mail, which is happening in New York if you’ve applied to vote absentee.

However, if you want to vote in-person and avoid lines at the polls, there are nine days of early voting prior to election day.

The first day is Oct. 24 and runs through Nov. 1. The times the locations are open are listed below:

Early Voting Times:

  • Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1: 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
  • Oct. 26, Oct. 28 and Oct. 30: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 27 and Oct. 29: 11 a.m.- 8 p.m.

A voter can go to any of the designated early voting sites during these periods. In Monroe County, there are 12. The locations are listed below:
