ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —Here’s a Good Question about restaurants. This specifically covers fast-food chains.

Just last week, Christopher asked News10NBC’s Brennan Somers: Why is the East Avenue McDonald’s lobby still closed to the public? It’s drive-thru and take-out only, no dining in for well over a year since the pandemic began.

Even as everything reopened, with restrictions going away to start the summer, McDonald’s still kept "A company-wide decision to not re-open dining rooms."

Here’s the good news–that’s changed just in recent days.

Somers went out to the location on Monroe and Averill avenues. they just put up a new sign saying "Dining room now open."

Staff told Somers that started about a week ago. On East Ave. there’s limited seating and plenty of cleaning rules in place. Green and red markers let you know which tables are good to go for customers.

This isn’t a blanket, company-wide decision.McDonald’s is telling customers it’s up to each individual store owner to make that call on indoor dining.
