ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Here’s a Good Question: Where’s the parking?
This is something that’s coming up more now as we look ahead to the holiday travel season, and more of you are taking flights out of Rochester.
Are you heading out for a trip? Want to leave your car at the airport? You don’t have all the options you used to when it comes to lots. Judy asked News10NBC’s Brennan Somers about that: Why is the "red lot" at the airport closed?
Somers went out there to see, and also checked with the airport. We saw "Red lot temporarily closed."
It’s been that way for a while now during the pandemic. People liked using it before because it was cheap, $7 a day max. Somers got in contact with the owner at MAPCO Auto Parks, which runs the lots.
The owner told Somers there’s still no plan to reopen the red lot anytime soon, as they said the "economics don’t work", and there’s just not enough demand.
And here’s the thing– even when the red lot does come back, it’ll be the same price as the yellow lot. Not a lot of people know about it, but, currently, the yellow lot is a dollar more, at $8 a day.
The full airport parking map with prices can be found here.
