Governor signs bill allowing air ambulance crews to give blood transfusions

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It has taken years to pass a bill to allow air ambulance crews in New York State to more easily provide blood for critically injured patients.

That’s something every other state allows.

This year the New York Senate and Assembly unanimously approved this bill to more readily allow the procedure.

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed it on Thursday.

Previously they were only able to give a trauma patient who was losing blood saline to try and supplement until they get to a trauma center.
