Great New York State Fair kicks off Friday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Great New York State Fair kicked off Friday, Aug. 20, and will run through Sept. 6, the longest in state fair history!

The fair will take place at the New York State Fairgrounds at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day except Sept 6. On Labor Day, the fairgrounds will close at 9 p.m.

And it wouldn’t be the Great New York State Fair without some great local food! The state sent out a sample of the Taste NY vendors that will be there on rotation starting on Friday. There will be 40 Taste NY marketplace vendors in all in the Horticulture Building. Click here for a complete list.

The fair will run at 100% capacity and proof of a covid vaccination is not required, but masks are mandatory inside the fairground’s buildings.

Daily admission is three dollars for adults. Seniors 65 and over, and kids under 12, get in for free!
