GREECE, NY. (WHEC) — Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich told News10NBC Sunday afternoon that Greece Police Chief Andrew Forsythe has been placed on administrative leave as the crash of his official vehicle is investigated.

Town of Greece Deputy Chief Jason Helfer will be the interim chief.

Investigators from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office have begun their investigation of a crash that involved Greece Police Chief Andrew Forsythe while driving his police-issued vehicle.

The District Attorney’s Office confirms two investigators were at the crash site canvassing near 390 North just past Ridgeway, right before West Ridge Road Sunday morning.

News10NBC was there this morning as investigators were on the scene and took video.

The Greece Police Department reports Chief Andrew Forsythe swerved to avoid a deer on 390 Thursday morning and crashed into a guardrail totaling his police-issued vehicle.

A police representative said Forsythe was banged up but his injuries were minor.
