ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The Greek Festival at the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation wrapped up on Sunday night.
It’s the first time the festival has been held since 2019, because of a pandemic pause. There was Greek food, like gyros and souvlaki, as well as traditional music, dancing, children’s activities and church tours.
"It has been incredible. The weather has cooperated, so apparently, our prayers for good weather have been answered," said Father Angelo Maggos, of Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation. “It will be, very, very soon, just a sea of people. It’s been great.”
The proceeds of the festival, organized by the church’s parish council, go to local charities. One of the charities this year is the youth mentoring organization, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Rochester.
