HAZMAT crew responds to minor chemical incident at Pittsford YMCA

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) – A HAZMAT crew responded to a chemical incident Monday morning at the Schottland Family YMCA in Pittsford.

At approximately 7:40 a.m. Monday, a HAZMAT team was deployed to a procedural call for chemicals in the swimming pool area that were misplaced.

The facility was evacuated by staff before the Pittsford Fire Department arrived. Responders were at the YMCA branch for about 45 minutes.

Pittsford FD said there was no threat or danger to anyone at the facility. The branch is open and operating as usual.
