Health professionals share tips on staying healthy during downtown protests
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A meeting between Rochester City Council Member Mitch Gruber and medical professionals Friday night sought to address how to stay healthy during downtown protests.
Physician Assistant Shani Wilson has been treating protestors and talked about what kind of injuries she’s seeing.
"There’s at least two people that I know of that have lost an eye or use of one eye," Wilson said. "We’ve sent people in for surgery, we’ve sent people in for concussion evaluation."
Everyone in the meeting talked about the importance of water at protests, and not only to stay hydrated. Water can be used to wash out eyes after they come in contact with an irritant, like pepper balls.
