Henrietta motorcyclist dies after crash on Calkins Road in Henrietta

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle in Henrietta.

Crews responded to the crash just east of the Calkins Road and Down Street intersection at around 1:45 p.m. Monday.

Deputies say the motorcyclist was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m. Investigators identified him as Douglas R. Shaw, 71, of Henrietta.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses to determine the direction of travel, speed, and what led to the crash.

The sheriff’s office is asking for surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses and additional witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 585-753-4175 or 911.

Calkins Road was closed to all traffic between Farnsworth Road and Zornow Drive for several hours but reopened around 6:45 p.m.
