ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The historic Dentzel Carousel at Ontario Beach Park is now open and free to ride through Memorial Day.
The carousel officially opened for its 116th season at the park, and Friday, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced that it will get a $500,000 renovation.
The work will include cosmetic upgrades, fencing, guardrails, and handrails. They’ll also restore the flooring, and make the carousel more ADA accessible.
Adam Bello, Monroe County Executive said, "The carousel is not just a piece of our history, we also have to make sure it’s a piece of the future…my children they’ve enjoyed this carousel, I’ve enjoyed this carousel, and I want their children to have that same experience."
The money is part of $10 million to improve the county’s park system.
