AVON N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Kathy Hochul announced 21 nominations for the state and national register of historical places. That includes a historic district with more than 370 buildings in Avon, Livingston County.
Avon became a developed village in the early 1800s that relied on agriculture, industry, and recreation. Adding historical buildings in Avon to the register would ensure that the village has resources for preservation. Some of Avon’s buildings are already added to the state and national register, including a historic inn, opera house, Methodist church, and library.
In Buffalo, nominations include a historic automobile accessories factory built in 1921 and a residential flat built when the city’s streetcar lines extended.
