ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill Monday that would create a State Firearm Violence Research Institute.

According to New York State, more than 38,000 Americans die from gunshot wounds each year.

The institute would work to find what the state calls “science-backed solutions to gun violence”.
