ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We’re nearly one week out from the start of the Tokyo Olympics, and Western New York will be well-represented on the international stage.
Jessica Pegula, daughter of Bills’ owners Terry and Kim, will be competing on the U.S. Olympic tennis team.
Pegula is a first-time Olympian and will be competing in the women’s singles and doubles.
She’s currently ranked 27th in the women’s world tennis rankings and will head to Tokyo on Monday.
"I’m just ready to get over there,” Pegula said. “This week is kind of going by a little slow, but I’m excited to get over there and be with the rest of my teammates. I know all the girls, and it’s all gonna be our first time playing in the Olympics – most of us – so it’ll be a new experience for a lot of us, and I think we’re just really, really excited."
The opening ceremony begins on July 23. Watch it on News10NBC.
