Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes fall in The Match VI to Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady

LAS VEGAS, NV (WHEC) — Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen was one one of four NFL quarterbacks competing in The Match 2022.

What started as a Thanksgiving special between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in 2018 has now turned into a yearly event, pitting some of the top athletes – regardless of sport – in a golf match.

This year’s The Match VI finished when Aaron Rodgers sunk a makable yet testy putt on the 12th hole to give his team the win.

The Match VI format:

This year’s competition was played in a ‘Shamble’ format.

In a Shamble, each golfer tees off and the best shot is selected. From there on until completion of the hole, each team will play their own ball until holing out. The best score from each hole is taken.

In addition, it was a 12 hole contest. Winning a hole earned a team one point and a tie means they halve the hole, with 0.5 point given to each team. No points were awarded if a team lost a hole outright. At the end of the 12 holes a winner was determined by the team with the most hole wins. Rodgers and Brady won on the very last regulation hole.
