ORCHARD PARK, NY (WHEC) – Suffice to say there’s a bit of weight that comes with being a franchise quarterback for an NFL organization. By all accounts, Josh Allen has handled that well. In more recent years, his stellar play has led him to being a face of the league. It’s why he was on the "Manning Cast," (an alternate Monday Night Football broadcast during the season on ESPN2 that’s led by Peyton and Eli Manning); invited to play in "The Match" alongside Patrick Mahomes against Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers; and will soon be heading to Lake Tahoe, Nevada again for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.
With all of that as well as the strides Allen has made, there’s been a bigger microscope on him in recent years. Knowing that, he’s made an effort to stay more professional so it might close off the door to see the full scope of his personality. However, according to Tight End Dawson Knox, stardom hasn’t changed the QB.
"No one truly knows his personality," Knox said. "You know. I mean, he lets it come out every now and then, but, you know, 23 hours of the day, he’s got to be on, you know, he’s got to have that, you know, for sort of being a professional, you know, a superstar. But if people got to know him behind the scenes, they figure out he’s is truly hilarious. You know, he’s just the same old guy cracking jokes on the sidelines and quoting movies that no one’s ever heard from or heard of. Well, yeah, it is hilarious. And he’s one of the greatest competitors I’ve ever played with. So he’s I don’t think he’s going to change at all."
Allen enters his fifth year in the NFL having already taken home a Pro Bowl selection, 2nd team All-Pro, and a 2nd place finish in the MVP voting.
