ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A groundbreaking educational program opened up its doors to students at the Kodak Center Wednesday.
Junior Achievement was proud to announce a new "discovery center" facility in Rochester Wednesday morning.
The center will provide students a miniature version of Rochester to learn real-life skills from, like starting a small business, and financial literacy.
Staff from the Spencerport Central School District, including Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Ty Zinkiewich, were on hand for the unveiling.
"Students receive a robust understanding of what it will look like to run their own business, go through the application process, writing a resume and interviewing etc. etc…. it’s something we take really seriously knowing that we want our students to be set up for success after they graduate from our school district," Zinkiewich said.
The discovery center plans on helping out 12,000 students a year once it is fully up and running.
