AVON, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s a big weekend for Special Olympics athletes here in New York.
A law enforcement torch run will go through the Town of Avon on Saturday, before leading into opening ceremonies at the regional track and field competition at Avon Central Schools.
More than 40 members of law enforcement will carry the "Flame of Hope" for 130 local athletes.
This competition serves as a qualifying event for the summer state games coming up in June in Ithaca.
