ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Little Theatre will show "West Side Story" for a one-night-only full-masked screening.

People who attend the 6:20 p.m on Jan. 19 must wear a mask during the entire movie. In addition, concessions will not be open for this show.

For all other showings, you still have to wear a mask but are allowed to take it off when eating or drinking.

You also need to show proof of vaccination status for any event at the Little Theatre.

Director of Communications Scott Pukos said the theater is trying to play its part in keeping guests safe.

“As a movie theater, we really felt like we have to go above and beyond what the safety procedures are, so we’ll not just do the bare minimum but do everything in our power to make sure people that come here are safe and have a good time,” Pukos said.

The policy applies to the main theater, which seats nearly 300 attendees, but those who still yearn for a popcorn snack during a flick can still do so in the old building.

“I think in this way we have plenty of people who want to still eat popcorn and that’s their comfort level. We’ve also had others who came in saying, ‘I prefer that people keep masks on the whole time,’ so this is just another way that we can listen to our guests,” Pukos said.
