Livingston County Sheriff: Man hit by tractor-trailer, killed on I-390 North Monday night

GROVELAND, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man is dead after the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says he was hit by a tractor-trailer while working on a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of I-390 Monday night.

It happened in the Town of Groveland between Exit 6 for Sonyea and Exit 7 for Mt. Morris just after 9 p.m.

Deputies say the tractor-trailer was headed north when it hit two cars that were on the shoulder, as well as Ashis Biswa, 20, of Rochester, then left the road and came to a stop near the treeline.

Biswa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say Allaoua Chatouk, 43, of Allentown, PA, was driving the tractor-trailer and he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff Thomas Dougherty says the crash ins still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

Deputies had the lanes shut down to investigate into the early morning Tuesday.
