Local bakery celebrates National Pie Day with a ‘special touch’

FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Special Touch Bakery is partnering with Iron Smoke Distillery to serve some reclusive, special desserts in honor of National Pie Day, which is Jan. 23.

The team was at the Iron Smoke Distillery Sunday afternoon.

Patrons could choose from two varieties using products from Iron Smoke Disterlly: Iron Smoke Bourbon Pecan Pie and Rattlesnake Rosie’s Apple Pie.

The bakery sale was to support people with or without disabilities, which is the mission of Special Touch Bakery.

"This was born back in 2017 to support folks with disabilities and all abilities, actually, to create jobs for them since there were limited jobs happening in the state when they came through programs," said Mike Mirabella, director of sales at Special Touch Bakery.

Every dollar spent on one of the pies allows Special Touch Bakery to hire more staff and help more people.
