ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Local lawmakers will host a press conference at the State Capitol to introduce a bill to bring handicap-accessible playgrounds to state parks.
Assemblyman Josh Jensen (R, 134) and State Sen. Mario Mattera (R, 2) plan to introduce the "Everyone Can Play" bill, which would establish a state grant program to help local municipalities install handicap-accessible equipment to playgrounds across the state.
They will also be joined by Santii Patel, the 9-year-old girl who sold hot cocoa to raise money to help build playgrounds friendly for disabled children. She received an ESL Jefferson Award and appeared on Kelly Clarkson for her deed.
The press conference will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in Albany and will be live-streamed on the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee’s Facebook page.
