Man arraigned in DWI crash that killed a 27-year-old woman
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester City School District Tuesday confirmed a man facing multiple charges in connection to a deadly DWI crash Monday is a long-time district employee, and has been placed on leave.
Rochester Police said late Monday 51-year-old Lonnie Gandues was driving drunk when he veered off the road at Hudson Avenue near Wilkins Street and hit a 27-year-old woman with his car. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, but died shortly after getting there.
Police say Gandues stayed at the scene and was treated and released at the hospital for minor injuries. The district told News10NBC he was not driving in an official capacity at the time of the crash.
Gandues was arraigned in Rochester City Court Tuesday on charges including vehicular manslaughter, and DWI. Police say additional charges may be presented to a Grand Jury.
