JAVA N.Y. (WHEC) — A man has been arrested for the shooting of a woman on Monday in Wyoming County, in what investigators said was a domestic violence incident.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for domestic violence at 10:30 p.m. in the town of Java. Deputies received a second call five minutes later for a woman shot.
Emergency Medical Services found a 29-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her lower body. A Mercy Flight helicopter took her to Erie County Medical Center and there’s no update yet on the severity of her injuries.
Deputies took Jared Wrazen, 29, into custody at the scene of the shooting. He was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
A 4-year-old child and a 63-year-old woman were also at the place of residence when the shooting occurred. Neither were injured.
Wrazen was arraigned in Warsaw Town Court and is being held in jail without bail and further charges are likely, said the sheriff’s office.
