Man charged with five felonies for rape of 16-year-old at gunpoint
ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — A man has been charged with five felonies after Rochester police said he broke into a house and raped a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint.
Jayshon Rivera, 20 was charged with rape, predatory sexual assault, burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The Rochester Police Department responded to the report of the rape on Thursday in the northeastern part of Rochester. Officers tracked a stolen vehicle that they said was connected to the incident and tracked it to the 400 block of Alexander Street.
Officers took Rivera into custody at around 5 p.m., after he exited the vehicle and he was caught during a foot chase. RPD said Rivera had a loaded handgun and narcotics on him during the arrest.
Rivera was transported to the Monroe County Jail and will be arraigned on Friday at Rochester City Court.
