Man in hospital for stab wounds to the neck

PERINTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries Sunday evening after authorities found him with stab wounds to the neck.

The incident occurred at an apartment on Balsam Lane in the Pines of Perinton, which is in the Town of Perinton.

According to MCSO, deputies responded and located the male victim in an apartment with stab wounds to his neck area. Deputies performed life-saving measures and Perinton Ambulance then took over upon arrival.

The victim was transported to Strong Hospital by ambulance where his injuries are considered serious.

Deputies secured the scene and the immediate area where they began an active search for the suspect. Witnesses told MCSO that the male suspect fled by foot.

Deputies attempted a K-9 track from the scene but yielded no results. An area search and canvas of approximately 80 apartments in the surrounding area also yielded no results of the suspect, deputies say.

Once efforts to locate the suspect in the immediate area were exhausted, MCSO said it began its criminal investigation into the matter.

It is still an active investigation, and information about the victim or any specific details can’t be released at this time, according to MCSO.

Authorities say this was not a random incident, and they have not developed any information to believe that the general public is in any danger at this time.
