Man pleads not guilty to murder, criminal possession of a weapon in Bay Street shooting

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police have arrested the man who they say is responsible for a deadly shooting that happened on Bay Street earlier this month.

It happened on Saturday, March 12.

Chad Wilson, 45, of Rochester, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries but ended up dying from them on Thursday, March 17.

Jerome Mason, 48, of Rochester, was also hurt in the shooting, but he was released from the hospital four days later.

On Monday, police arrested Jackie Robinson, 43, of Gates and charged him with second degree murder, second degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Robinson shot and killed Wilson and shot and injured Mason while they were all at 859 Bay St. They did not mention what they believe the motive was.

Robinson was arraigned on Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty.
